What To Wear With: Flares/Bell-Bottoms
One of the most talked about comebacks this Spring is the flares. They are also known as bell-bottoms; they were very popular in the 60s and 70s. I remember back when I was in high school, a year before skinny jeans were worn by everyone — and I mean everyone — flares were my go-to jeans. I own different washes and colors. My flare frenzy stopped right in the beginning of the skinny jeans craze! Now that these are back in style, I will be pulling my flares from the back of my closet. I forgot how I love these. They make you look stylish and polished in a sec. When you want to look effortlessly put together, this is your go-to piece.
This first set combines the sophistication of the black flare jeans and the femininity of the lace tank. One way to balance the bottom of the jeans is to pick a fitted top, but with this one, I chose a flowy tank top with a lace tank top underneath to create that soft laid-back look. I chose nude accessories to accentuate the white and the black combination, then added some colorful necklace to finish the look.
This next set brings out the bohemian patterns, but not too much. It is known that maxi dresses with tribal prints are usually the foundation of a bohemian look. This next outfit is a great way to try the boho-chic look especially if you’ve only discovered the trend. Also, this look features open-toed flats. It is not often you find someone who wears bell-bottoms with flats. Go ahead, break the rules. Although, I must warn you: make sure the hem of the jeans hits by the soles of your feet. You don’t want to drag around your flares on those dirty streets, do you?
And last, but not least, my favorite way to wear flares: with a blazer. Nothing screams sophistication than a blazer and bell-bottoms. As you can see, I only used a basic pink tank top with a black pump. Even the accessories are basic — the black envelope clutch and a pair of gold earrings, and you’re done! This is great for date nights, for lunch dates, or even business meetings!
